Medical Cannabis for Cancer-Related Symptoms
Medical cannabis may help alleviate cancer-related symptoms like pain, nausea, and appetite loss. Can° Clinic supports oncology patients seeking alternative symptom relief when standard care isn’t enough. Find out how cannabis-based therapies can ease the burden of cancer treatment.
Oncological Conditions (Cancer)
Oncology is the study of cancer and tumours and can be used to refer to a large number of conditions. Cancer is a very common condition, with around one in two people developing some form of cancer in their lifetimes. While cancer itself is highly debilitating, treatments associated with the condition can also have their own significant side effects which often require management. Adjunctive therapies are often used to minimise these side effects and promote the highest quality of life for the patient.
How Can Cannabis-Based Treatments Help in Oncology?
Medical cannabis has shown promise in alleviating various cancer-related symptoms. It may help manage chronic pain, reduce chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting, stimulate appetite, and improve sleep quality. By interacting with the body's endocannabinoid system, cannabis-based treatments can offer a complementary approach to traditional oncology care, aiming to enhance patient comfort and overall well-being during and after cancer treatments.
Integrating Medical Cannabis into Cancer Care
For patients undergoing cancer treatment, managing side effects is crucial for maintaining quality of life. Medical cannabis offers a potential adjunct therapy, addressing issues such as pain, nausea, and appetite loss. When used under the guidance of healthcare professionals, cannabis-based medicines can be tailored to individual needs, ensuring a personalised approach that complements existing treatment plans and supports holistic patient care.
